About The Role: The Project Manager will oversee the successful end-to-end delivery of all capital and operational projects across the Merlin attractions portfolio valued between £20,000 and £1,000,000. This is a high-visibility, multi-site role requiring regular travel across UK resorts. Reporting directly to the Technical Director, you will ensure all projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to Merlin’s technical, operational, and guest‑experience standards. Strong understanding of CDM regulations, stakeholder management, and multi‑project coordination is essential. This is a hands‑on project leadership role requiring exceptional communication, planning, and problem‑solving skills within a fast‑paced themed‑entertainment environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of projects from scoping and design through to procurement, delivery, commissioning, and handover.
  • Oversee all projects between £20,000 and £1m, including infrastructure works, ride improvements, facility upgrades, and estate enhancement projects.
  • Produce detailed project plans, programmes, cost projections, and resource schedules.
  • Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, Merlin safety policies, and all site procedural requirements.
  • Produce and review RAMS, construction phase plans, and H&S documentation.
  • Lead site safety briefings, contractor inductions, and on‑site audits.
  • Coordinate with resort operations, engineering, facilities, and external contractors.
  • Manage tendering, procurement, contract negotiation, and contractor performance.
  • Chair project progress meetings and communicate clearly with all stakeholders.
  • Control project budgets and track financial performance throughout each project.
  • Report on progress, risks, and variances to the Technical Director.
  • Ensure cost‑effective delivery without compromising safety or quality.
  • Monitor construction and installation quality to ensure all work meets design intent and safety standards.
  • Conduct inspections, manage snagging, and oversee the commissioning process.
  • Produce complete closeout documentation including O&M manuals and asset information.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience managing multiple construction, engineering, or estates projects simultaneously.
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 and site safety management.
  • Experience delivering projects in the £20k–£1m value range.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) – mandatory.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Ability to travel frequently across multiple Merlin resorts.

Desirable:

  • Experience in leisure, hospitality, theme parks, or multi‑site operational environments.
  • APM, PRINCE2, or other formal project management qualification.
  • Technical background in construction, engineering, or facilities management.
  • Experience managing contractor activities on live operational sites.
