About The Role

OCS is recruiting Chaperone Technicians to join our Technical Services team supporting the EOS contract.

This is a mobile role combining chaperone and escorting responsibilities with general building-fabric maintenance across designated government sites.

You will escort contractors and other authorised personnel while they are working on site, as well as undertaking planned and reactive maintenance.

You will help ensure that sites remain safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard.

The role will require travel across your designated region, and you will also participate in the contract’s callout rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out chaperone and escorting duties across designated sites.
  • Escort contractors and authorised personnel while they complete work within secure environments and report remedial works to the engineers and supervisors
  • Plan, inspect and comaplete repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Respond to breakdowns and reactive maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Complete delegated reactive work orders and planned preventative maintenance within agreed budgets, quality standards and contractual SLAs and KPIs.
  • Undertake basic general building-fabric and maintenance repairs.
  • Complete basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating, masonry, locksmith and ceiling-grid or tile repairs where required
  • Provide general handyman services, including relevant L8 duties.
  • Support and assist the wider maintenance team (supervisor and engineers) with other facilities-related work when required.
  • Ensure an appropriate safe system of work is in place before starting each activity.
  • Make sure all work is completed safely and that sites are maintained to the required standards.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, cleaning teams and security colleagues to support the effective management of each site.
  • Maintain accurate records and update work orders using the provided tablet and systems.
  • Support out of hours work where required (with relevant notice)

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • Previous experience within building maintenance, fabric maintenance or a general handyperson role.
  • Practical skills in areas such as basic carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating, masonry repairs, locksmith work and ceiling grids or tiles.
  • A good understanding of workplace health and safety.
  • Experience following and contributing to safety documentation and safe systems of work.
  • The ability to work independently and manage a mobile workload.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to work with clients, contractors, security teams and other site personnel.
  • Basic IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products.
  • A current, valid UK driving licence.
  • The right to work in the UK.

An offer of employment will be subject to successfully obtaining the enhanced security clearance required for this contract.
