About The Role
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
This position is a mobile role, covering North England and south Scotland.
Key Responsibilities
- Water System Maintenance
- Inspect, clean and disinfect hot and cold-water systems, including storage tanks, calorifiers and associated pipework, in line with HSG274 Part 2 and L8 ACOP.
- Carry out routine temperature monitoring, water sampling and basic testing to minimise Legionella risk.
- Interpret test results and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Support Legionella risk assessments and implement required control measures.
- Ensure compliance with L8 ACOP, HSG274, COSHH, and Health & Safety legislation.
- Maintain accurate inspection, testing and compliance records.
- Remedial & Installation Works
- Complete flushing, descaling, chlorination and other remedial works.
- Install, repair and maintain TMVs, pumps and associated water system components.
- Respond to emergency water hygiene callouts when required.
- Customer Service
- Communicate inspection findings and recommendations to clients.
- Deliver a professional, customer-focused service at all times.
- Health & Safety
- Promote a strong health and safety culture across all activities.
- Work in accordance with OCS policies, RAMS and Construction Phase Plans (CPPs).
- Complete and support risk assessments, method statements and toolbox talks.
Essential Criteria
- Experience as a Water Hygiene Engineer or similar.
- Good knowledge of HSG274 Part 2, L8 ACOP and UK water hygiene legislation.
- Experience carrying out water sampling, temperature monitoring and remedial works.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional out-of-hours callouts.
Qualifications Required
- City & Guilds Legionella Control in Hot and Cold-Water Systems (or equivalent).
- Experience installing and maintaining TMVs.
- L8 ACOP Qualification
- Knowledge of COSHH and safe handling of water treatment chemicals.
