About The Role

Shift Pattern: Hybrid 5 on 3 off

The purpose of this role is to load and unload vehicles of live news, pallets, magazines and support across all of NewCo Loading and distribution operations. To support all aspects of pallet and product management, keeping palletisers filled with pallets, recording incoming pallets and control of pallet/product quality. To work flexibly as part of a team to meet NewCo business needs.

Key responsibilities

  • To ensure all pre run checks are carried out on the FLT’s. All faults to be recorded on keypad and Supervisors to be informed.
  • Remove all cage stock and waste from previous night’s run.
  • To liaise with Supervisor for correct loading of each vehicle with live news and magazines.
  • To load and unload live news vehicles.
  • Collect paperwork from traffic office when required.
  • To load palletisers with pallets for night and day runs.
  • Reset Palletiser if and when sensors trip out.
  • Remove and dispose of waste as and when required.
  • Replace batteries and sign sheet at battery station.
  • Report any problems to the Supervisor.
  • Top up spare pallets in the mailroom.
  • The unloading and safe storage of empty pallets brought in by hauliers.
  • All tickets received as receipt of empty pallets unloaded from trailers must be handed to Vanway Supervisor or Checker.
  • To store or load all day production.
  • To be able to step up to Checker duties when required.
  • Keep Vanway and other relevant areas clean and tidy.
  • Bins to be emptied when required.
  • Weekly cage stock, waste and cage stock magazines and sections to be emptied into skips at the beginning of each week.
  • To support NewCo operations and teams as and where required.
  • Assist across all areas where trained and capable to do so.
  • Assist with any inserting requirements.
  • Adhere to relevant Health and Safety requirements i.e. Safety Wear, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and Manual Handling guidelines.
  • Any Health and Safety concerns are reported to the appropriate point of escalation and/or NewCo Help-desk.
  • Reporting shall be covered in an incident/near miss document.
  • Follow the safe systems of working as dictated in your training information guides and risk assessments.
  • All pre and post run checks of associated equipment are to be conducted in line with NewCo standards.
  • Any equipment defect is reported appropriately.
