About The Role

  • Shift Pattern: 06:30 - 15:30 1 hr unpaid break
  • We have an exciting opportunity for a

Site Handyperson to join our team working on one of our key contracts.

You will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance tasks, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) inspections, statutory compliance checks and minor repairs across the site.

The role requires practical maintenance skills, including basic plumbing, building fabric repairs and low-voltage electrical tasks such as changing lamps and batteries, along with experience working in a facilities management or maintenance environment.

The successful candidate will have a proactive approach, excellent customer service skills and a willingness to provide practical solutions to support the client's operational needs.

As this is a customer-facing role, a professional appearance and good communication skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and basic reactive repairs across the site.
  • Responding to maintenance requests and breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the maintenance of office, commercial, distribution and industrial premises.

• Conducting statutory compliance inspections, including

  • Emergency lighting checks
  • Water temperature monitoring
  • Fire door inspections and minor repairs
  • Basic plumbing repairs
  • Lighting inspections and lamp replacements
  • Other routine maintenance and compliance checks

• Performing minor building fabric repairs, including

  • Painting and decorating touch-ups
  • Minor carpentry repairs
  • Door, lock and furniture adjustments
  • General upkeep of site facilities

• Undertaking basic low-voltage electrical tasks such as

  • Light bulb and tube replacement
  • Battery replacement
  • Visual inspections of electrical equipment
  • Reporting defects requiring specialist electrical intervention
  • Assisting with stock control and stores management.
  • Supporting specialist subcontractors whilst on site.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records and site documentation.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Acting as a professional representative of the company and delivering excellent customer service at all times.
  • The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and email systems.
  • Previous experience in a facilities maintenance, handyperson, building maintenance or similar role.

• Practical experience carrying out

  • Basic plumbing repairs
  • Carpentry and building fabric maintenance
  • Minor decorating works
  • Planned preventative maintenance inspections
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Experience completing risk assessments and following permit-to-work procedures.
  • An understanding of planned maintenance schedules.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to accurately record work using paper-based and computerised systems.
  • Experience of stores and stock management would be advantageous.
  • Experience of BMS systems would be beneficial but not essential.
  • A forklift licence would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Low-voltage electrical awareness and the ability to safely undertake simple maintenance tasks such as lamp replacement.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Valid CSCS Card (or equivalent).
  • A recognised maintenance, building services, facilities management or trade qualification would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable experience within a maintenance or handyperson role.
  • IPAF Licence.
  • PASMA Licence.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Manual Handling training.
