About The Role
Working Hours
8am - 5pm + overtime opportunities
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician with a strong general building maintenance and handyman background to join our Hard Services team in Canary Wharf.
This is a hands‑on role carrying out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance and general remedial repairs across a commercial site.
You will need to be a practical all‑rounder with experience across general building maintenance, including doors and locks, floor and wall repairs, painting and decorating, basic plumbing, carpentry and other general handyman tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance and repairs.
- Complete general handyman and remedial works across the site.
- Repair and maintain doors, locks, handles, hinges and other fixtures and fittings.
- Carry out minor floor and wall repairs, patching and making good.
- Undertake painting and decorating as required.
- Complete basic plumbing repairs, including taps, toilets and minor leaks.
- Carry out basic carpentry and joinery repairs.
- Undertake minor tiling, glazing and ceiling repairs where competent.
- Complete allocated PPMs and reactive work orders within agreed timescales.
- Identify more specialist repairs and elevate to appropriate engineering team.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and accurately recorded on the relevant systems.
- Provide a professional and customer-focused service to the client and building users.
Essential
- Previous experience in general building maintenance, handyman, Fabric Technician or a similar role.
- Good practical experience across general building and remedial repairs.
- Experience with doors and locks, painting and decorating, basic plumbing and carpentry.
- Experience carrying out wall and floor repairs and general making‑good works.
- Previous experience within a commercial FM or building maintenance environment.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices.
- Comfortable using electronic systems or handheld devices.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Relevant building maintenance or trade qualification.
- CSCS Skilled Card or equivalent.
- ACOP L8 awareness.
- Experience carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
- Experience with tiling, glazing, masonry or suspended ceiling repairs.
