About The Role

Working Pattern: 5 days a week – 6.00am-9.00am

We are seeking a proactive and hands‑on Cleaning Manager/Supervisor to lead and support our cleaning team across two buildings. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong leadership skills with a willingness to actively assist with cleaning tasks, especially during busy periods or staff shortages. The successful candidate must be able to travel between sites to ensure consistent standards and team support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate, and support a team of cleaners to ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained across both sites.
  • Hands‑On Support: Actively participate in cleaning duties during busy periods, covering absences, or when additional support is needed.
  • Training & Development: Provide on‑the‑job training in cleaning techniques, Health & Safety, colour coding, and prioritisation.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Manage rotas, shift patterns, and daily task allocation to ensure efficient coverage and productivity across both buildings.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular inspections and audits to maintain service standards and address any issues promptly.
  • Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between cleaners and management, ensuring clear communication and prompt resolution of concerns.
  • Helpdesk job management: Raising jobs and closing actions.
  • Supplies & Equipment: Monitor stock levels of cleaning materials and equipment, placing orders as needed and ensuring proper usage.
  • Site Oversight: Travel between two buildings to oversee operations, support staff, and ensure consistency in service delivery.
  • Event Support: Assist with regular events by organising cleaning staff to support setup, breakdown, and maintaining cleanliness during and after events. Work closely with the catering team to ensure cleaning support is aligned with event schedules and food service requirements.
  • Issue Reporting: Identify and report any maintenance or operational issues to the on‑site engineer, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.

Health and Safety Accountabilities

  • Participate in any communication activities with staff through formal and informal channels on health and safety matters to ensure that there is a free flow of ideas and that morale remains high to promote a proactive approach to health and safety.
  • Ensure that the OCS safety image is reflected positively through your actions and those of your colleagues.
  • Ensure all Health & Safety regulations are known and strictly adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure records are maintained to ensure due diligence compliance.
  • Ensure that teams are properly trained to competently carry out their duties and responsibilities and acknowledge and accept a personal responsibility for health and safety.
  • Ensure that all work activities are properly managed and supervised.
  • Build and promote an open and 'just culture' for safety that actively encourages open reporting.
  • Ensure you comply with the company’s Near Miss/Accident reporting procedure.
  • Co-ordinate implementation of health and safety matters including regular meetings with OCS and C&W Facilities.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Previous experience in cleaning and team supervision.
  • Willingness to perform cleaning duties alongside the team.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and colour coding systems.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable, flexible, and approachable.
  • Ability to travel between sites as required.

Desirable

  • Experience in training staff.
  • Basic IT skills for scheduling and reporting.
  • Multilingual abilities.
