The aim of this role is to provide exceptional inclusive customer service to disabled customers and customers with reduced mobility. As key members of our dedicated team, our Assisted Travel Drivers play a crucial role in ensuring an effortless and equitable travel experience for all our customers. They will work as part of a team driving Ambulift vehicles from the terminal to the aircraft.

This role will include the following responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised assistance to disabled customers and customers with reduced mobility, ensuring their airport experience is an effortless and enjoyable part of their holiday.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with other airport departments.
  • Assist customers with check-in procedures.
  • Escort passengers through security and immigration.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to customer inquiries, concerns, and requests, demonstrating excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

What will make you successful in the role?

We are looking for someone with outstanding customer service skills, preferably with experience in customer-facing industry – retail, hospitality, sales, and similar. You will be a natural communicator, with plenty of empathy and a natural aptitude towards problem solving. You will be fully flexible to cover a 24/7 operation which will include night shifts, early mornings, weekends and bank holidays. Shift lengths varying between 4-12 hours. Ideally you will have a clean and valid driving license (maximum of 3 points), and experience of driving LGV is preferable but definitely not a pre-requisite.

We offer a permanent annualised hours contract which means you are paid for 21 hours a week. However, at peak times you may be required to work additional hours or at quieter times you may be required to work less than 21 hours a week. This does not affect your salary which is paid consistently at 21 hours per week despite the hours you may work. For example, in summer you may be required to work 31 hours, however you will be paid for 21 hours. In winter where your hours will be reduced, the additional 10 hours worked in summer will be offset to equal 21 hours a week, so, you will work 11 hours but still receive payment for 21 hours that week. You will need to be flexible to work on a 24/7 operation which will include night shifts, early mornings (Earliest start time from 03.00am), late shifts, weekends and bank holiday shifts.
