Position Summary
The Assembly Department Manager is responsible for overseeing scheduling of production and daily operations within the assembly department, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role leads and develops the assembly team and drives continuous improvement initiatives and ensures alignment with overall company objectives.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all assembly department activities to meet production schedules and targets
- Develop and oversee production scheduling. Monitor progress and adjust schedules as needed to address changes in demand, material availability, or staffing, ensuring targets for quality, cost, and delivery are consistently met.
- Supervise, train, and develop assembly team members
- Ensure that assigned departments comply with company policies and safety standards
- Coordinate with human resources to respond to employee concerns or complaints
- Monitor workflow, staffing, and resource allocation to optimize productivity and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a strong safety culture
- Maintain and improve product quality standards in collaboration with Quality Assurance
- Analyze production data and KPIs to identify areas for improvement
- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve issues and improve processes
- Address employee concerns, conduct performance evaluations, and support employee engagement

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and lead Process Technician Manager and Shift Team Leads
- Coach and develop team leads to effectively manage their teams, including leadership skill development and accountability practices
- Ensure consistent enforcement of company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new employees within the department
- Oversee staffing levels, scheduling, and shift coverage to meet production demands
- Provide daily direction, prioritize work assignments, and ensure clear communication of production goals and expectations
- Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Assist troubleshooting equipment or process issues
- Partner with HR on employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions and conflict resolution
- Lead regular team meetings to communicate updates, address issues, and reinforce department objectives
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Five years of related experience with at least two years of supervisory experience preferred
