Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Headteacher in driving academic standards, behaviour, and staff performance.
  • Contribute to the strategic vision and operational leadership of the school.
  • Lead and manage behaviour improvement plans across the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching quality and learning outcomes.
  • Champion safeguarding and ensure compliance with all statutory guidelines.
  • Mentor and support teaching staff, conducting appraisals and identifying CPD opportunities.
  • Manage parent/carer engagement and maintain strong community relationships.
  • Oversee curriculum planning and intervention strategies for pupils with diverse needs.
  • Represent the school at meetings, panels, and external events where appropriate.

Requirements

  • QTS and leadership/management experience in a UK school setting.
  • Proven experience working with KS4 pupils, particularly within an alternative provision or SEND context.
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and pupil wellbeing strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
  • High levels of literacy and ICT proficiency.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and support both pupils and staff.
