SPMT Operator for heavylift and transport projects. Salary £16.00-£30.00 per hour depending on experience and tickets held. OTE £65,000-£100,000 per year depending on overtime/allowances. Working across the UK on Mammoet project sites.

Every day around the world, Mammoet’s fleet of SPMTs help to move forward some of the most high profile and complex engineering projects. Our Self‑Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) fleet plays a critical role in delivering these projects safely and efficiently, and as an SPMT operator, you’ll be the one making this happen. Reporting to the Operations Manager, all positions are permanent. We are open to receiving applications from candidates based throughout the UK. Please note, on occasion you may be required to attend our Teesside and/or Hixon Depot. These roles are specifically for applicants with experience working with SPMTs. We are not looking for any Trainee's at this time. We are looking for candidates who are looking to secure a long‑term, permanent career with Mammoet. We invest heavily in the training and development of our staff in order to help them progress therefore longevity is incredibly important to us. Travel throughout the UK on projects will be required.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • SPMT Preparation— Conduct loading, unloading, assembly, and disassembly of Scheuerle SPMTs and associated auxiliary equipment on UK projects.
  • Equipment Operation— Operate SPMT units in accordance with technical standards, operational procedures, and project‑specific instructions.
  • Load Transport Execution— Perform controlled movement of loads in alignment with project requirements and safety parameters on projects around the UK.
  • Maintenance Activities— Carry out routine and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and operational readiness.
  • Safety Compliance— Adhere to all Mammoet safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements to maintain a safe working environment.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Operational Background— Demonstrated professional experience in transport operations, rigging, and heavy equipment handling.
  • Technical Competence— Foundational knowledge of arithmetic, hydraulics, mechanical systems, and electrical schematics; full UK driving licence.
  • Communication Skills— Strong communication abilities and situational awareness in dynamic operational environments.
  • Language Requirements— Basic proficiency in verbal and written English.
  • Safety Certification— Completion of safety training and certification in accordance with Mammoet standards (safety passport).
  • Industry Experience— Prior experience operating Scheuerle SPMTs in sectors such as civil engineering, construction, renewables, oil and gas, offshore, ports, or mining.
  • SPMT Experience— Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in a technical or transport environment, including direct operation of Scheuerle SPMTs.
