Mammoet Offshore Services specialise in loadout and installation large and heavy structures in marine and offshore environments. The role of an offshore services project technician is to work as part of a team and support in safe and successful setup and execution of multi discipline projects involving ballasting systems, winches, hydraulic jacking, skidding, and lifting equipment on a wide range of projects in the UK and (majority) overseas. Our project sites range from mining projects in Northern Canada to working offshore in the Persian Gulf and onshore fabrication yards in the far east.
Our Project Mechanical Technicians usually come from a mechanical, hydraulic or electrical background and we will also consider applicants with relevant marine or industrial experience who are willing to travel and work abroad and offshore. Past offshore experience is not strictly necessary and applicants should note this is not a rotation based role.
Preference will be given to applicants who have previous experience of working away from home for periods of time.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Unpacking, setup, installation, operation and maintenance of Mammoet Offshore Services equipment including but not limited to strand jacks, diesel driven hydraulic power units, ballast pumps, winches, hydraulic jacks and weighing equipment on project sites.
- Rigging and general lifting of equipment.
- Support packing and unpacking of containers in accordance with detailed packing lists.
- Complete post operation equipment maintenance checks.
- Maintenance, preparation and packing of equipment in the Middlesbrough yard in readiness for mobilisation to a project.
- Travel to a wide range of project sites worldwide both onshore and offshore.
- Reports directly to the Foreman and Supervisor on site and the personnel planner in the office.
- Reading, understanding and working to site and project specific method statements, risk assessments, ITP\’s and engineering drawings.
- Filling out project documentation such as but not limited to: equipment pre-use check sheets, maintenance records, daily site reports.
- To ensure all work is carried out in accordance with legal, company and client safety regulations, risk assessments and method statements.
- Ensure compliance with and proactively promote safe working principles, good working practises, wearing of correct PPE, good housekeeping, reporting of safety observations, near misses and incidents.
- Proactively participate in the companies in house training scheme for our specialist equipment as well as relevant third party courses.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Essential:
- Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulic/Marine/Industrial background
- Willing and capable to learn operation and maintenance Mammoet\’s specialist equipment
- Willing to travel and work within and outside of the UK for extensive periods including some offshore working
- Current valid driving licence
- Current valid passport (no restrictions)
Desirable:
- Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulic City & Guilds, ONC, NVQ L3 or similar
- Hydraulic systems, PLC controlled equipment, experience in a similar role
- Experience in hydraulic and mechanical maintenance and hydraulic system operation
- Problem solving and fault finding and able to invent and propose new methods or modifications to existing systems
- Current offshore medical and survival certificate and OPITO MISTIndustry related general certificates such as CPCS Slinger-Signaller, Lift Supervisor, Forklift Truck, Telehandler, CCNSG Safety Passport, Abrasive Wheels, IPAF, Working at Height
