About the role:
- Oversee and optimize day-to-day activities, including procurement, warehousing, logistics, and distribution.
- Ensure timely deliveries and adherence to quality standards in customer service.
- Monitor workflows and identify areas for improvement to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead cost stewardship across warehousing, transportation, and intralogistics (forklifts/MHE, maintenance, energy), driving a sustained reduction in cost-to-serve while protecting service levels.
- Champion end-to-end digitalisation (WMS, ERP/Business Central, handheld scanning, EDI/TMS, Power BI dashboards) to ensure real-time visibility, data integrity, and decision speed.
- Establish FEFO discipline and slotting/ABC-XYZ practices to improve picking productivity, inventory turns, and waste reduction.
- Coordinate suppliers and procurement operations to ensure product availability and optimal inventory management.
- Implement innovative solutions for logistics management, reducing costs and empty miles and improving vehicle utilization, fleet right-sizing, response times, cross-dock rhythms and transfer loads.
- Ensure cold-chain integrity across ambient/chilled/frozen with proactive temperature monitoring, traceability, and recall readiness.
- Lead the recruitment process for the logistics team, including drivers and warehouse operatives.
- Supervise and coordinate operational teams (warehouse staff, drivers, logistics managers).
- Plan work schedules and optimize human resources to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Foster a company culture focused on quality, safety, and teamwork.
- Institutionalise Continuous Improvement (Lean basics, Gemba walks, Kaizen), linking ideas to quantified savings and KPI uplift.
- Analyze and track key operational KPIs (e.g., OTIF/DIFOT, pick accuracy, waste/shrink, inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock, MHE utilisation, labour productivity, and cost-to-serve).
- Act as system process owner for WMS/ERP in the UK: clean master data, standardised SOPs, and user training; partner with HQ on enhancements.
- Build operational reports and automated dashboards (Power BI) for real-time control-towers (service, cost, quality), including early-warning alerts on exceptions, and propose solutions to improve performance.
- Implement procedures to ensure compliance with current regulations and safety standards.
- Align UK operations with Group strategy (“One Mammafiore Way”): translate global standards into local SOPs, standardise with Central Ops (Procurement, Supply Chain, Quality, IT), and maintain controlled, audited documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hygiene and sanitation regulations applicable to food products.
- Implement workplace safety measures, minimizing risks and incidents.
- Conduct regular internal audits to verify compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with management to introduce new technologies or processes aimed at improving productivity.
- Promote sustainability initiatives, such as waste reduction or the use of eco-friendly materials.
Who are we looking for:
- At least 5-7 years in operational or managerial roles, preferably in food distribution or logistics.
- Degree in industrial engineering, logistics, economics, or related fields (preferred but not mandatory).
- Knowledge of supply chain processes, warehouse management, and distribution logistics.
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel, Power BI, ERP, WMS/TMS (RF, GS1/SSCC, wave/zone, FEFO/lot), route optimisation/telematics (ePOD/e-CMR), and EDI/API integrations.
- Coordination of operational teams and foster a positive work environment.
- Strong data-driven approach to monitor and improve operational performance.
- Familiarity with food safety, workplace safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Fluent English (mandatory); Proficiency in Italian; Spanish is a nice-to-have for cross-country collaboration with Central teams.
