As our UK business continues to grow, we are looking for a Transport Manager to lead and continuously improve our transport operation across London and Manchester. You will play a key role in ensuring our fleet operates safely, legally and efficiently, while supporting our drivers and working closely with Warehouse, Operations, Purchasing, Customer Service and Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and oversee the daily transport operation.
- Ensure deliveries and collections are completed safely, efficiently and on time.
- Support drivers throughout their routes and resolve operational issues.
- Maximise fleet utilisation and monitor key transport KPIs.
- Coordinate servicing, MOTs, inspections, repairs and vehicle documentation.
- Ensure compliance across the HGV fleet with Operator Licence and DVSA requirements.
- Monitor drivers’ hours, Working Time Directive and tachograph compliance.
- Manage relationships and service levels with third-party logistics providers.
- Maintain accurate transport and compliance records and prepare for audits and inspections.
- Promote a strong Health & Safety culture.
- Develop procedures and SOPs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Monitor transport costs, fuel consumption, fleet performance and operational efficiency.
Education:
- Valid Transport Manager CPC – Standard National or International (mandatory).
- Previous experience managing transport operations.
- Experience in food distribution is desirable.
- Experience with refrigerated fleets is desirable.
- Experience with transport management systems is desirable.
- Knowledge and/or experience related to Operator Licence compliance.
- Experience managing third-party logistics providers (3PL) is desirable.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Transport compliance and record management.
- Fleet management.
- KPI monitoring and reporting.
- Knowledge of DVSA regulations, drivers’ hours, Working Time Directive and tachograph compliance.
- Soft Skills: Strong organisational skills, Excellent communication skills, Problem-solving mindset and Ability to work under pressure.
