This type of Merchandise department is quite often regarded as the commercial heart of a business. Based at Head Office, a Merchandise department will make a number of commercially analytical recommendations and decisions.
- Produce weekly and monthly trade analysis reports to the business on key product categories including the weekly sales and stock intakes (WSSI).
- Identify supply and demand strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, as well as sales and profitability.
- Work closely with our Hong Kong office, global manufacturing and supplier partners to understand and forecast supply flow, timings, scenarios and solutions.
- Work closely with our stores, online, marketing, finance, and our UK and International sales teams to limit overstock or understock scenarios, and in creating cost effective solutions where needed.
Basically, making sure the business commercially maximises profitability from analysing and forecasting supply and demand.
As part of the global multichannel Merchandise department, your role as a Trainee Merchandiser is to support the team in accomplishing the above looking at:
- Data Entry
- Tracking and reporting on any discrepancies in the data and requirements, whether production, shipping, order or pricing variances.
- Communicating with various departments and production to understand any discrepancies.
