About the role:

As a Senior Cloud Development Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing scalable cloud-based applications on Microsoft Azure that support Malvern Panalytical’s digital products and business operations. Working across the full software development lifecycle, you will contribute to solution architecture, software development, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization, ensuring the delivery of secure, reliable, and high-performing solutions.

You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, UX designers, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust, user-focused cloud applications. As a senior technical contributor, you will champion engineering best practices, including secure coding standards, reusable design patterns, automation, and continuous improvement, helping to drive quality and innovation across our development teams.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design, develop, and optimise scalable, secure, and resilient cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure that support innovative digital products, streamline business processes, and deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • Provide technical leadership and expertise throughout the software development lifecycle, driving high standards of engineering excellence across architecture, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Own the design and implementation of robust full-stack solutions, ensuring they are maintainable, performant, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles and technology strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, UX/UI Designers, Architects, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into customer-focused digital solutions that create measurable value.
  • Champion modern software engineering practices, including secure coding, automated testing, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, code quality management, and the adoption of reusable design patterns.
  • Lead and actively contribute to Agile delivery teams, participating in sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance team performance and delivery outcomes.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical challenges across application and infrastructure layers, using data-driven insights to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Mentor and support fellow engineers, sharing knowledge, promoting a culture of learning and innovation, and helping to build high-performing teams capable of delivering world-class software solutions.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience in software development.
  • Significant experience designing and delivering full-stack cloud applications in enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands-on expertise in C#, .NET, and Microsoft Azure services.
  • Proven experience developing secure, scalable, and high-quality cloud-based solutions.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and software engineering best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills using logs, code analysis tools, and cloud monitoring platforms.
  • Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud architecture, and modern application integration patterns.
  • Proven ability to work within agile delivery frameworks, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, provide technical leadership, and mentor colleagues.
  • Experience in ISO9001 or similar regulated environments is advantageous.
