About The Role: Oversee the entire procurement cycle, from supplier selection and approval to contract negotiation and ongoing supplier management. Build and develop supplier relationships, ensuring value is delivered at every stage of the process. Lead category management projects to reduce costs, improve quality, and minimise operational overheads, impacting procurement strategy and overall business efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate pricing and delivery terms for production parts, ensuring alignment with supply chain and production needs.
- Manage supplier relationships, including selection, evaluation, approval, and performance tracking, in collaboration with Lead Buyers and Manufacturing Engineering.
- Support new product introduction, working with strategic teams to identify cost‑effective suppliers and ensure smooth project handovers from development to production.
- Resolve supply chain issues, including quality concerns, sourcing risks, and supplier disruptions, while maintaining continuity of supply.
- Drive process improvements, supporting the adoption of best practices and the development of KPIs to enhance purchasing efficiency and performance.
- Ensure compliance, maintaining approved sources, contracts, audit schedules, and contributing to strategic initiatives such as supplier rationalisation and risk mitigation.
About You:
- Experience in purchasing within a low‑volume, high‑mix engineering/manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, IT, and negotiation skills, with a solid understanding of supplier development, contract law, and Lean manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency in SAP ERP systems is beneficial, alongside general comfort with digital procurement tools.
- Experience with purchasing non‑IP items, mechanical components, or plastics is desirable; LCC sourcing and project management experience is an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex supply chains and drive cost, quality, and delivery improvements through effective procurement practices.
