The Quality and Engagement Manager will support student success and academic quality across the International Study Centre (ISC). Responsibilities include monitoring and improving student engagement, retention and academic performance, ensuring early intervention where risks are identified.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Engagement & Retention
    • Monitor student attendance, engagement, withdrawals, progression, continuation, and attainment data across all cohorts.
    • Identify trends, risks, and areas of concern through regular data analysis and reporting.
    • Develop and implement intervention strategies to support at-risk students and improve retention.
    • Work with academic and student support teams to ensure robust student engagement frameworks are in place.
    • Track effectiveness of interventions and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Academic Quality Assurance
    • Support implementation and monitoring of academic quality processes across the ISC.
    • Ensure alignment of operational and academic practices with University regulations and expectations.
    • Work with the Centre Director and Academic Team to prepare for academic monitoring, audits, and review events.
    • Support the development and implementation of enhancement plans arising from quality reviews.
  • Partnership & University Engagement
    • Act as a key liaison between Malvern and University academic/quality teams on student success and engagement matters.
    • Liaise with partner university links in organising regular engagement activities to enable student progression.
    • Attend regular meetings with University stakeholders to review performance and escalation matters.
    • Foster strong collaborative relationships to ensure the ISC remains integrated with the wider University community.
  • Governance & Reporting
    • Prepare regular performance dashboards and reports for the Joint Academic Board, Joint Operations Board, and Senior Management / Steering Committees.
    • Present analysis and recommendations regarding engagement, continuation and progression trends.
    • Support production of annual quality reports and strategic performance reviews.
  • Operational Improvement
    • Develop policies, processes and initiatives to improve the student experience and academic outcomes.
    • Work with admissions/recruitment teams to ensure student profile and entry criteria support strong academic continuation outcomes.
    • Benchmark performance against sector and partner expectations.
  • External and Internal Collaboration
    • Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including recruitment agents, Malvern’s central functions and external partners, to achieve student progression and retention goals.
    • Represent Malvern with professionalism and credibility in all interactions with students, parents, university staff and external organisations.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a management role, ideally within the education or international education sector.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to develop trusted, long-term partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans that deliver measurable results.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and inspire diverse teams, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Commitment to delivering an exceptional student experience, with a focus on progression, retention and employability.

Personal Attributes

  • Experience working within higher education and familiarity with university structures and priorities.
  • Knowledge of international student recruitment markets and trends.
  • Understanding of student welfare and support services, particularly for international students.
