Innovate Summer Academy is a premium, academically rigorous pre-university summer programme hosted on the University College London (UCL) Bloomsbury campus. The programme offers intensive two-week academic accelerator courses for high-achieving students aged 15β18, combining university-style teaching, small class sizes, experiential learning, and close academic mentoring.
We are seeking exceptional Associate Lecturers / Lecturers (Adjunct Faculty) to join the Innovate Summer Academy for Summer 2026. Faculty members are expected to teach across all core modules within their assigned faculty, delivering a coherent, integrated academic experience. In addition, faculty play a central role in supervising applied and capstone projects, mentoring students, and supporting progression to competitive undergraduate pathways.
Faculty of Engineering and Science:
- Engineering Design and Problem Solving
- Mechanics and Materials Science
- Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics
- Structural and Civil Engineering Systems
- Ethics and Sustainability in Engineering
- Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Systems
Final module allocation will depend on faculty expertise, programme timetabling, and student cohort needs.

Contract Type: Fixed-term (Summer 2026)
Term 1: 9 July 2026 β 23 July 2026
Term 2: 23 July 2026 β 6 August 2026
Term 3: 6 August 2026 β 20 August 2026
Faculty may be contracted for one or multiple terms.
Rate of pay: Β£50ph (3-6 hours per day)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, university-style teaching through lectures, seminars, workshops, and applied/project-based learning.
- Guide students through faculty-specific capstone or applied research projects, including project design, analysis, and final presentations.
- Provide structured one-to-one mentoring to support studentsβ academic development, critical thinking, and progression to competitive undergraduate study.
- Contribute to the refinement of teaching materials, ensuring academic rigor, coherence, and alignment with current disciplinary standards.
- Support and, where appropriate, accompany faculty-specific industry visits, academic excursions, or guest speaker sessions.
- Reinforce core academic skills (research, writing, presentation, critical analysis) appropriate to pre-university students transitioning to higher education.
- Work collaboratively with onsite teams to support students in a safe, inclusive, and academically demanding environment.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- PhD or Post-Doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline
- PhD awarded and under examination for post-doctoral research
- Demonstrable subject expertise aligned with one or more Innovate faculty areas
- Proven experience teaching at university level or equivalent
- Strong commitment to student-centred, interactive, and project-based learning
- Ability to teach and mentor high-achieving international students aged 15β18
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
- A collaborative, supportive, and professional approach to teaching and mentoring
