Application for Senior Clinical Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery for a 6‐month period. The post will support a team of 8 Consultants, 2 Specialist Registrars and 8 other Trust Fellows. The postholder will participate in the full shift rota and be encouraged to attend teaching sessions for registrars, and to take part in clinical audit and research. The role is not an approved training post but suitable for someone seeking experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
The hospital has 27 surgical ward beds, 12 cardiothoracic critical care beds, 3 dedicated cardiothoracic theatres on the first floor, 35 acute cardiology beds with 3 catheter laboratories, 2 pacing theatres and 11 day‐care beds on the second floor.
Responsibilities- Play a full part in the rota for the department in conjunction with colleagues.
- Provide cover for colleagues during periods of leave.
- Take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
- Ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
- Ensure adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of patients to be able to contact you when necessary.
- Play a full part in the supervision of junior medical staff in conjunction with consultant and senior colleagues.
- Take responsibility for the best use of departmental staffing and other resources to ensure maximum efficiency of the department.
- Observe the Trust's agreed policies and procedures, in particular in relation to managing staff, and to follow the Trust's standing orders and standing financial instructions.
- Take responsibility for your own health and safety complying with any safe working arrangements, policies and procedures in place.
- Accept a duty to other staff and patients to ensure that any hazards are reported and managed appropriately.
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate.
