We are looking for a current undergraduate student to assist in the effective delivery of the Council's Tourism and Economic Development service. In particular, the role will involve leading on the digital marketing for our tourism support as part of the wider economic development objectives and assist with the implementation of tourism opportunities and event production. This is an exciting and varied role providing a great experience to support a degree qualification.
You will be championing the district as a tourism destination for day visits and short breaks, and you will support with the preparation, marketing and distribution of the District's promotional digital and print literature. There will also be the opportunity to network with partner organisations to maximise Wychavon's opportunities to maintain and enhance the local economy, through business investment and visitor spending. This is a student placement opportunity for students undertaking an undergraduate degree course with a gap year for placement. Placement to commence August 2026.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Have a minimum of two 'A' levels or equivalent
- Be a current undergraduate - looking for a one year internship/placement as part of degree course
- Have a strong understanding of using social media to help create engaging marketing campaigns
- Demonstrate great customer service - competently interact with people, face‑to‑face, on the telephone and via correspondence
- Have experience of event management
- Comfortable liaising with community groups and clubs
- Have knowledge of the local area (district)
- Possess content (media) creation skills
- Have the ability to travel to locations throughout the district
- Have good listening, oral and written communication skills
- Be computer literate and competent in the use of Microsoft‑based packages
- Possess good time and project management skills
- Have the ability to work independently to tight timescales
- Possess good interpersonal skills
- Be comfortable with photography and video production
- Have knowledge of website CMS - namely Wordpress
- Be prepared to work evenings and weekends
- Possess a confident and sociable persona
