The predicted salary is between 37280 - 40777 £ per year.

This is a busy role involved in the day-to-day management of recycling and waste collection teams, including allocation of staff, vehicles and other resources. Working as part of a team of shift managers, this role is key in ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery of services in accordance with the Council’s corporate objectives and targets. No two days will be the same and you will be working in a busy team to provide a first-class Refuse and Recycling service to Malvern Hills residents.

This role also requires commitment to delivering the Council's values of great customer service, openness and accountability, innovation and improvement, and fairness and respect. As well as being responsible for championing and demonstrating the Council’s Leadership Behaviour Framework by inspiring, communicating, collaborating and empowering self and others and leading by example.

About you

  • Full, valid EU driving license
  • Experience of working with the public and delivering high levels of customer satisfaction in a face-to-face role
  • Experience of supervising or managing staff working in dispersed teams
  • Experience of dealing effectively with situations involving conflict with others
  • Experience of making resource allocation and operational service decisions to ensure high levels of performance and productivity, having reference to established procedures
  • Experience of collecting, collating and processing information and preparing reports on routine operational and staffing matters
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • The ability to plan work, allocate resources and manage delivery to meet deadlines and quality criteria
  • The ability to lead and advise team leaders and operatives to achieve high levels of performance and productivity
  • An understanding of the requirements and duties under health and safety legislation and best practice

The successful candidate will ideally also have:

  • Supervisory management qualification (NVQ level 3 or above or equivalent)
  • Formal training in Health and Safety legislation and best practice
  • Experience of working within the recycling and waste industry
  • Knowledge of parishes and residential locations throughout the Malvern District
