Join to apply for the Student Support Area Co-ordinator Cambridge role at Malvern College

Location: Cambridge and surrounding areas

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 10 hours per week (A highly flexible approach to working hours is necessary)

Salary: Competitive

College Guardians was founded in 2010 to provide educational guardianship services to overseas students attending boarding school, college and universities in the UK. We are accredited through AEGIS (the Association for the Education and Guardianship of International Students) and our services include the provision of a number of guardianship packages to parents, sourcing and managing homestay families, attending parent meetings and providing advice and guidance to our students and their parents. Further information can be found on our website.

We are looking to appoint a part-time Student Support Area Co-Ordinator based in the Cambridge area and covering surrounding areas.

This is a part time role working on average 10 hours a week throughout the year, although the hours will predominantly be worked during School term time. However, due to the nature of the role, there may be more hours worked one week and less another. A highly flexible approach to working hours is necessary, including evenings and weekends where required. The post holder would also be expected to share the on-call emergency phone rota.

The number of hours work per week will very much depend on the number of students attending schools, colleges or universities in the relevant geographical area. There may be a need, on occasion, to work more than the hours stated above. Any additional hours worked will be on an overtime basis and must be agreed in advance by the Guardianship Manager.

What You\’ll Be Doing

Visiting students at schools, colleges and universities

Communicating as appropriate with parents and staff at school and colleges

Attending parents meetings when parents are unable to travel from overseas

Assisting with the recruitment of host families

Assisting with the arrangements of host family stays for students

Arranging transport for students

You\’ll Have

Extensive experience in an administrative and customer facing role

Experience of working/interacting with children and young adults

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Collaborative and supportive approach

An understanding of the UK boarding school system

Ability to plan and schedule your own workload and work remotely/on your own initiative

A flexible approach to working hours as the role will require unsociable hours including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

To Apply

Applications should be submitted no later than Monday 18 August 2025. College Guardians reserves the right to close this vacancy early and therefore applicants are encouraged to apply sooner.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and College Guardians is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are spent unless they are protected under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

This post involves contact with children and the post holder may be responsible for children. The post holder will be considered to be in regulated activity.

Candidates must be prepared to undergo child protection screening and an Enhanced DBS check.

You will be required to provide proof of your identity, right to work in the UK and qualifications during the selection process. We will seek references on short-listed candidates that will include questions about past disciplinary actions or allegations in relation to behaviour with children and may approach previous employers for information to verify particular experience or qualifications before interview. An online search will also be carried out as part of due diligence on all short-listed candidates

You may also have experience in the following: Student Welfare Officer, Regional Student Support Coordinator, Pastoral Support Coordinator, Area Student Liaison Officer, Education Support Field Officer, Regional Guardianship Coordinator, Student Relations Area Manager, Student Care Coordinator, Guardian Services Field Officer, International Student Support Officer, Homestay Liaison Coordinator, etc
