EYFS Teaching and Learning Support Assistant in Maltby

A permanent position supporting pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The Governors and Leaders are seeking a highly organised, committed individual to support and promote pupil progress and welfare, contributing to a caring and stimulating learning environment.

• Work under the guidance of teaching staff and senior Early Years practitioners to support the care and education of young children.
• Contribute to play‑based learning experiences and care routines that promote children’s development, independence, and well‑being.
• Support individual and small group activities both indoors and outdoors, helping children to access and engage in the Early Years curriculum.
• Build positive relationships with children, acting as a caring role model and responding to individual needs.
• Work with all staff to create and maintain a safe, stimulating and nurturing learning environment.
• Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills, training or experience to support children.
• Prepare and tidy the classroom and resources for daily activities, and assist with displays of children’s work.
• Support children’s personal care needs, including hygiene, toileting, mealtimes, first aid and overall well‑being.
• Support the movement and handling of students with disabilities.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small group support, delivering planned learning and play activities.
• Participate in the delivery of specific interventions to small groups of targeted students.
• Supervise and support children to ensure their safety, engagement and access to learning both indoors and outdoors.
• Promote positive behaviour and social skills in line with Academy policies.
• Observe, record and report on children’s progress, achievements and any concerns to the class teacher.
• Prepare and maintain resources and equipment as required.
• Work in partnership with both the team, parents and carers, sharing information as directed.
• Take part in training, staff meetings and performance development as required.
• Build and maintain effective professional relationships with relevant external stakeholders and service user groups.

• High level of organisation and commitment to supporting young children.
• Ability to work effectively with teaching staff and other early years practitioners.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish positive relationships with children.
• Awareness of child development and ability to contribute to activities that support learning and well‑being.
• Ability to provide personal care support and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Experience or willingness to use specialist skills or training to support children where appropriate.
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures and willingness to comply with statutory checks.
