An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the finance team as an Assistant Capital Accountant. In this role, you will be working closely with the Capital Accountant, Finance Manager and project management teams of the Malmaison and Hotel du Vin group to assist with the day to day running of the capital accounts function and ensure the smooth running of the capital accounting process.
What you’ll be doing as an Assistant Capital Accountant:
- Set up WBS code projects on SAP once CAPEX budget approved and paperwork signed off
- Raise Purchase Orders for MHDV CAPEX projects
- Process CAPEX Invoices and ensuring on time payment to vendors, including ensuring CAPEX vendor set up with the SAP vendor team
- Communicate with the Maintenance and Hotel Development team based around the country to ensure smooth running of project spend
- Liaise as required with SAP Approval team on Capital spend (actual and budget) approval, budget reallocation when needed and budget closure/roll forward at year end
- Submit required CAPEX related reports e.g. committed spends as required
- Assist with month end reporting e.g. AUC reports and review of AUC balance to be expensed in a timely manner
- Ensure completed projects are followed up right up to capitalisation stage in the books in a timely manner
- Ensure Tech fees are booked to capitalised projects in a timely manner and future tech fees are reviewed at least quarterly against projects in the pipeline so they do not exceed capitalised amount
- Assist with internal and external queries including periodic internal audit reviews, SAP approval level reviews, external audit etc
- Ensure compliance with Group policies and procedures at all times
- Support the Capital Accountant as required including for holiday cover
- Other ad-hoc duties including liaising with consultants for capital allowance projects, National Statistics for CAPEX, CAPEX related initiatives etc
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in a similar finance or capital accounting role
- Previous experience of SAP is desirable
- Experience of working in the hotel or hospitality industry would be advantageous
- Proven capability to communicate Financial Information to various stakeholders, especially with non-financial background
- An eye for detail and the ability to identify errors and offer workable solutions
- Strong systems skills with a mindset of continuous improvement
- Personable, positive, dynamic professional who works flexibly and collaboratively to achieve deadlines, with “a can get job” done attitude
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- A disciplined approach to production and documentation of work
- Strong team player who can demonstrate an ability to take ownership of work streams, work independently of senior management oversight and coordinate multiple stakeholders
