The Malloy Aeronautics Team: Malloy Aeronautics Limited specializes in the development of heavy lift unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) for both civilian and military uses. Located in Berkshire, our operations are notable for their focus on in-house design and manufacturing. This vertical integration means we control the production of most aircraft components on-site, enhancing our ability to innovate and maintain high standards across all stages of development.
If successful to 2nd stage interview there will be a hands-on assessment to check your ability to crimp and solder appropriate connector and make wire harnesses.
About The Role:
- Manufacture, assemble and test electrical looms and harnesses for our unmanned vehicles.
- A majority of the role involves crimping and soldering electrical connectors of all sizes.
- Install electrical harnesses and looms onto chassis bodies from wiring diagrams.
- Electromechanical assembly of vehicle body components and sub-assemblies.
- Training and assisting other staff as required.
- We are looking for multiple candidates of various levels of skill from junior to senior who must have experience with the essential skills below.
5 years residence in the UK - Ability to hold Security Clearance – What you’ll being doing (but not limited to):
- Set up and build of looms and harness assemblies from wiring diagrams.
- Crimping and soldering small gauge connectors for signals and grounding against drawings.
- Crimping and soldering high gauge ring terminals and power connections against drawings.
- Manual techniques such as cutting and stripping cables and application of heat shrink as required.
- Prioritise tasks to ensure product manufacture and delivery, to schedule.
- Validation of Bill of Material against drawing and existing stock.
- Plan for future production requirements, pre-empting stock availability issues and stock holding to minimise impact on production and delivery schedules.
- Visual examination and quality control of completed harnesses prior to integration.
- Assist with the development of new capabilities and new systems or applications for the product.
- Installation of looms and harnesses into aircraft structure.
- Use hand and electrically operated power tools with precision and dexterity in a safe manner.
Essential Skills and Experiences:
- Able to demonstrate hands on experience in previous roles as a wiring technician, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline.
- Experience with crimping in-line, and/or bulkhead connectors, ideally to IPC620 or equivalent standard.
- Experience with soldering in-line, PCB mount and/or bulkhead connectors, ideally to IPC620/IPC610 or equivalent standard.
- Experience manufacturing wiring looms to a specification given by an engineering drawing.
- Experience with harnessing integration from wiring diagrams.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge and experience of manufacturing to wiring standards (e.g IPC / WHMA - A - 620).
- Experience drawing wiring diagrams and/or engineering drawings.
- Experience working with engineering to suggest solutions.
- Experience working with harnessing installation on aircraft, vehicles, or products.
- Consider process or product improvement (health and safety, and efficiency) in the course of daily duties.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
- Stock validation and identify minimum stock levels for re-order triggers.
- Must be adaptable, flexible and open to change in a fast-paced business.
