We are seeking an experienced Conveyancing Fee Earner to join our residential property team. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of residential property transactions, providing accurate, client‑focused legal work and ensuring timely progression to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically capable conveyancer who wishes to develop their practice within a modern, supportive law firm.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a personal caseload of residential property matters from initial instruction to completion, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages and transfers of equity.
  • Provide clear, pragmatic advice to clients on transaction steps, timescales, costs and risks, maintaining excellent client care throughout the matter.
  • Draft, review and exchange contracts, transfer deeds, priority documentation and other transaction paperwork, ensuring accuracy and compliance with lender and firm requirements.
  • Progress matters proactively by managing priority dates, searches and requisitions, mortgage conditions and post‑completion formalities; chase outstanding actions and raise complex issues where appropriate.
  • Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, surveyors, other firms and third parties to obtain information, resolve issues and coordinate completions.
  • Prepare completion financials, handle client monies in accordance with practice rules and work with accounts to ensure funds are received, reconciled and transferred accurately.
  • Maintain accurate matter records on the case management system, ensure time recording is up to date and assist with billing and completion statements.

Key skills and experience

  • Previous experience as a conveyancing fee earner, residential conveyancer or qualified solicitor/chartered legal executive with demonstrable experience handling residential transactions to completion.
  • Good technical knowledge of residential conveyancing practice, including searches, title issues, mortgage documentation, leasehold matters and SDLT/completion accounting.
  • Confident communicator with excellent drafting skills and a professional manner when liaising with clients and third parties.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to prioritise competing demands and progress matters with minimal supervision.
