We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our legal team. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality secretarial and administrative support to fee earners across a range of matters, helping to ensure efficient progression of cases and excellent client service. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who wishes to develop their legal support career within a modern, supportive law firm.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive secretarial support to fee earners, including word processing, drafting correspondence, preparing legal documents, and formatting court bundles and submissions.
  • Manage diaries and arrange meetings, conference calls and client appointments; co‑ordinate travel and meeting logistics as required.
  • Open and maintain matter files on the case management system; ensure accurate upload and indexing of documents, and keep time and task records up to date.
  • Prepare, proofread and format letters, emails, pleadings, witness statements and other legal documents to a high standard; ensure accuracy and compliance with firm templates and style.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing post and correspondence, ensure documents are scanned and filed correctly and assist with file closure and post‑completion formalities.
  • Provide excellent client care by responding promptly to routine enquiries, keeping clients informed of progress and escalating substantive legal issues to fee earners.

Key skills and experience:

  • Previous experience as a legal secretary, legal PA or similar role within a law firm or legal environment.
  • Strong secretarial skills including excellent typing, proofreading and formatting ability; confident use of Word and document automation tools.
  • Experience of using case management systems, email and diary software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional manner when liaising with clients and third parties.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
