We are seeking an experienced Solicitor to join our client's Residential Property team in Aylesbury. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of residential conveyancing matters, providing high-quality legal advice, proactive case management and excellent client care within a collaborative firm that values technical competence, continuous professional development and high standards. This role will involve handling sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, leasehold matters including lease extensions, shared ownership and post‑completion work such as SDLT, Land Registry applications and dealing with lender requirements. The post‑offer opportunities for fee income generation, client relationship development and contributing to the mentoring of junior colleagues. Hybrid working is available after successful completion of the probationary period.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a mixed‑complexity caseload of residential property matters from opening to completion and post‑completion, ensuring timely progression, commercial solutions and excellent client service.
  • Provide clear, pragmatic legal advice to private clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and other stakeholders; draft and review contracts, transfer deeds, lease extension documentation, SDLT returns and related paperwork.
  • Undertake Land Registry dealings including AP1 applications, priority searches and resolving title issues and indemnity matters.
  • Handle remortgage matters and lender requirements, liaise with mortgage brokers and lenders, prepare completion statements and manage client monies in accordance with SRA and firm procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with anti‑money laundering (AML) and client due diligence procedures, maintain audit‑ready file records and follow firm risk and file management protocols.
  • Contribute to business development activities: build and maintain client relationships, assist with marketing initiatives and identify opportunities to generate fee income.
  • Supervise and support junior fee earners and paralegals; delegate tasks, review work and contribute to skills development within the team.
  • Support fee‑earning and billing processes: prepare fee estimates, ensure timely billing, monitor payments and liaise with the finance team regarding disbursements and client receipts.
  • Keep up to date with changes in property law and practice; contribute to the maintenance and improvement of precedents, checklists and workflows to support efficient service delivery.

Key skills and experience required:

  • Qualified solicitor with post‑qualification experience in Residential Property within a law firm; with 2‑4 years PQE.
  • Proven experience managing a caseload including sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, leasehold work and post‑completion matters.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Land Registry processes, SDLT, lender requirements and leasehold‑related legislation; accuracy in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Excellent client care and communication skills with the ability to manage expectations, negotiate effectively and maintain professional relationships with clients and third parties.
  • Practical experience of AML, client verification and file compliance with a commitment to maintaining audit‑ready records and meeting regulatory obligations.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff, delegate effectively and contribute to a supportive team environment.
  • Commercial awareness, a proactive approach to identifying business opportunities and improving processes, and the ability to work to fee targets and priorities.
  • Proficiency with case management systems and standard office IT applications; willingness to adopt and help embed digital workflows and precedents.
