A high-growth UK services business is looking to appoint a Head of Fleet / Fleet Director to lead and transform its fleet operation at a critical stage of expansion. This is a newly created, senior leadership role with a clear mandate to move the fleet function from reactive management to a data-driven, performance-led operation. The organisation is scaling rapidly (500 → 1,000+ employees) and operates a 350+ vehicle fleet, including a mix of operational vans and specialist HGV units supporting a highly productive field-based workforce.
The Opportunity
You will take ownership of the fleet strategy, performance, and lifecycle management, ensuring the fleet supports operational delivery at scale. Key areas of focus include:
- Driving improvements in fleet utilisation, uptime, and cost efficiency
- Implementing data-led decision making using telematics platforms
- Leading asset lifecycle planning (procurement, leasing, replacement)
- Ensuring fleet availability for high-performing operational teams
- Supporting the transition to 7-day operational capability for specialist HGVs
- Leading and developing a growing fleet team
- Supporting integration of newly acquired businesses into a consistent fleet model
About You
You’ll bring:
- Experience managing large, complex fleets (300–500+ vehicles)
- Strong understanding of fleet performance metrics and optimisation
- Knowledge of HGV operations and regulatory requirements
- A track record of moving fleet operations towards a strategic, data-driven model
- Experience in mobile workforce environments (e.g. utilities, infrastructure, roadside services)
