Our Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeship provides you with unique access to top industry professionals. Your journey begins at Glasgow Clyde College, followed by a comprehensive program that includes a full-time placement here at Malin.

Learn about the techniques that we incorporate to position, prepare, and check welding equipment, our procedure for managing and maintaining consumables, as well as preparing areas for welding and fabrication. Our approach involves thorough testing and a careful assessment of the quality of our products, as well as all recognised standards. This program offers a practical, interactive approach, equipping you with the conventional and mechanised skills essential for a successful career in welding.

We are looking for an individual who possesses a minimum of 3 NAT 5s, (Maths and English essential), achieving a grade of C or higher. Your hand-eye coordination will be as good as your attention to detail. It’s also important that you be compatible with our company's values - we seek individuals who are enthusiastic, motivated for development, and fully committed. Challenges and obstacles will arise during your training program, but what truly counts is your ability to learn from these experiences and progress onwards.

Applicants will start work at Malin as soon as practicable, where you will gain hands-on experience prior to beginning college in August. The program aims to advance suitable candidates towards achieving an HNC qualification:

  • Timeframe: A minimum of 4 years.
  • Year 1: Achieve NC qualification in Fabrication and Welding through block release at college.
  • Years 2-4: Advance to HNC in Fabrication and Welding.
