About The Role
We’re looking for a capable and motivated Specialist Workforce Manager with strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills who can lead and drive our contingent labour service. As Specialist Workforce Manager you will focus on supplying highly skilled personnel for specialist welding and fabrication environments, while also building and maintaining client relationships, contractor engagement and operational coordination to meet client needs.
Key responsibilities in this role:
- Client Relationship Management
- Identify, engage and secure new clients requiring specialist labour.
- Develop and nurture long‑term client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact.
- Understand client scopes and resource needs, providing tailored workforce solutions.
- Negotiate and manage client contracts and service agreements.
- Conduct regular client meetings to assess satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
- Contractor Management
- Work with partner agencies to source and onboard highly skilled tradespeople.
- Oversee contractor vetting, onboarding, induction, and deployment to client sites.
- Monitor contractor performance, engagement, conduct, and availability.
- Maintain a strong pipeline of pre‑qualified contractors to support operational responsiveness.
- Operational Oversight & Compliance
- Ensure all workforce placements are compliant with all contractual, legal, and security clearance obligations.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of contractor placements, agreements, and performance metrics.
- Work with finance and procurement teams to ensure accurate invoicing and payment processes for contractors and clients.
- Monitor contractor retention and engagement strategies to optimise workforce stability.
- Business Growth & Performance
- Identify market trends and opportunities to expand the contingent workforce services.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase workforce placements and revenue.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as client retention, contractor utilisation, and profitability.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management for continuous improvement.
Skills And Experience
- Experience in recruitment, contractor management, or workforce planning.
- Strong client relationship building and management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts and contractor placements simultaneously.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of security clearance processes and compliance regulations (advantageous, but not essential).
Where You Will Be Working
We have two main office locations: our head office based at the iconic South Rotunda building on the South bank of the River Clyde, and our impressive welding and fabrication facility at Westway Business Park, Renfrew. You will spend the majority of your time at our welding and fabrication facility at Westway Business Park, mixed with off‑site visits to client offices. Note, home working can be discussed at interview.
