We’re looking for two practical, people-focused Agricultural Project Officers to work with farmers, landowners and rural communities in targeted areas across our catchment. One will be based on the North Pennines fellside, and the other will work across the Upper Caldew catchment.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape farmer-led projects that work for both farm businesses and the environment – improving water quality, restoring freshwater habitats, supporting biodiversity and building resilience to flooding and climate change.
You’ll build trusted relationships with local farmers, communities and partners, coordinate a Farmer Group, develop Water & Environment Improvement Plans and help turn good ideas into practical, funded projects on farms and across the wider landscape.
Work at the heart of farm- and landscape-scale river and habitat improvement projects; support practical, farmer-led environmental improvements; be part of a collaborative charity committed to healthier rivers and a thriving farming environment; and gain valuable conservation experience and skills whilst in the early stages of your conservation career.
Agricultural Projects Officer – Upper Caldew: 4 or 5 days per week, 18-month contract with opportunity to extend. A great chance to be involved in our new National Lottery Heritage Funded project, Reconnecting and Reviving the Caldew, from the start and shape how this project develops over the next few years!
Agricultural Projects Officer – Fellside: 4 or 5 days per week, initially offered for 3 years. If you’re interested in upland environments, this is for you! You’ll work with farmers and landowners in the stunning and wild North Pennines, creating opportunities to make lasting change, not just locally but also at a catchment-scale.
