Role Overview
Forestry England’s Biodiversity Plan aims to restore resilient biodiversity across the nation’s forests. The Wild Area Officer will oversee the development and delivery of one or more wild area projects in the district, managing them from concept through implementation. This role brings the concept of wild areas to life, delivering at scale to meet the organisation’s nature‑recovery ambitions.
Responsibilities
- Define and deliver wild area projects, ensuring they meet biodiversity targets
- Manage projects through concept and definition stages and facilitate implementation on the ground
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate biodiversity objectives into wider forest management plans
- Report on project progress, outcomes and impact to senior leadership
- Promote and embed wild area concepts within Forestry England and partner organisations
Where you’ll work
Base office within Central England Forest District (either Sherwood Pines, Market Rasen or Fineshade). Hybrid home working is available. Travel across England is required.
