Salary: £16,567.20 pro rata (FTE £27,612 per annum)

What it’s like to work here: At Penrose, National Trust places range from dramatic coastal scenery at Gunwalloe to the varied woodlands at Penrose which surround Loe Pool, Cornwall’s largest natural freshwater Lake. Most of Penrose is designated as part of Cornwall’s National Landscape for its beauty and history, and our strategy for the next decade builds on our work to create a landscape where people and nature are thriving.

What you’ll be doing: You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, public access routes and visitor infrastructure, along with machinery. You’ll share your knowledge and enthusiasm and listen to others who love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task. You’ll make sure that high standards of practical conservation work and presentation support great outdoor experiences on the land in your care. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the local team are doing.

Who we’re looking for: We’d love to hear from you if you’re:

  • practically experienced in practical outdoor work
  • passionate about protecting nature, landscapes and the benefits of public access
  • happy to talk to all kinds of people about the work you’re doing, and why it matters
  • hard-working and willing to learn and work outside
  • able to work safely, using risk assessments and following guidelines
  • willingness to be trained in machinery and equipment
  • a driver with a full UK driving licence

The package: The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. We welcome and value difference, so when we say we’re for everyone, we want everyone to be welcome in our teams too.
