Role Summary
To ensure the smooth running of the accounts department, ensuring that all accounting requirements of the business are being met and providing meaningful reports to management to ensure informed financial decisions can be reached. Relaying financial performance information to the management team, through provision and explanation of monthly management accounts. Maintaining the financial health of the organisation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee and supervise all accounts department activities including sales & purchasing invoicing, imputing and payment details.
- Maintain performance indicators for the business on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Process journals for month end.
- Processing of payroll and associated statutory returns.
- Prepare monthly management accounts for internal and external use.
- Daily bank feed processing.
- Ensure department reports are accurate and relevant to current trends.
- Supervise sales and purchase ledger accounts assistants, ensuring they are trained and meeting the requirements of their roles.
- Implement new procedures where appropriate and as dictated by new business.
- Provide precise and accurate reporting and information to Auditors.
- Prepare VAT returns for the company.
- Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are completed.
- Complete end of year returns and liaise with auditors.
- Assist in the creation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.
- Establish robust Month End close timetable.

- Advanced IT literacy (Microsoft Office, particularly Excel) (essential)
- Sound working knowledge of Xero Accounts package (essential)
