The Maxwell Underground Mine, owned by Malabar Resources Ltd, has commenced operations at their Hunter Valley site, with planned production of up to 8 million tonnes of product per annum. With approvals in place out to 2046, the mine targets high quality coal with the majority being metallurgical coal. ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a Longwall Coordinator to join our growing team. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Longwall Coordinator will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the Maxwell Underground Mining Longwall Team and ensuring the efficient delivery of key organisational objectives. The successful candidate will possess extensive underground mining experience, including experience in operational leadership roles and longwall activities. The Longwall Coordinator will be able to demonstrate engaged and visible leadership and must have excellent written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Exposure to budget and cost management, as well as mine planning scheduling will be highly regarded.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of mining professionals, fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment where everyone's contributions are valued.
  • Contribute to developing the operational strategy for the new mine that aligns to the strategic objectives of the organisation and establishes the tone for mining operations moving forward.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute longwall mini build, underground installation, production, relocations, expansion to 300m wide face, planning and procedure development to meet and exceed budgeted targets, while optimizing resource utilization and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization while driving innovation and implementing best practices.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including technical service, maintenance, Development production and Outbye Services teams, to ensure seamless coordination and effective communication.
  • Identify interactions and proactively manage activities to ensure that the longwall operation is optimised.
  • Articulate risks & opportunities to key stakeholders to maintain transparency and ensure operational challenges are actioned.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, the applicant will possess:

  • A NSW Deputy Certificate of Competency and Practising Certificate and/or Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant Engineering field.
  • Experience with Underground Mining/Longwall schedules and budgets to ensure targets are achieved with minimal variance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a multi-disciplinary Underground Mining team.
  • Previous exposure to Contractor Management, Explosive Management, Ground Support, and Strata Control.
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and incident report/investigation systems.
  • Sound planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
