Support Worker – Silver Street Respite Service

Location: Barnsley, S75 3NP
Salary: £12.60 per hour
Hours: 35 hours per week

About the role

As a Support Worker at Making Space, you will provide exceptional care and support to service users, particularly those with learning disabilities, complex needs, and behaviour that challenges. You will administer medication, assist with domestic tasks, and create an environment of warmth and care.

You will tailor your approach to each individual’s unique needs, embodying our core values of Kind Hearts, Tailor Making, Dreaming Big, Having Courage, and Being Ready. This role requires compassion, a willingness to tackle challenges with determination, and a commitment to making a real difference.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and support to service users with learning disabilities, complex needs, and challenging behaviour.
  • Administer medication and assist with domestic tasks.
  • Adjust care plans to meet the individual needs of each service user.
  • Maintain a supportive and caring environment that makes service users feel seen and valued.

Requirements

No prior industry experience or specific qualifications are required. Successful applicants will be supported with step‑by‑step on‑the‑job training and can undertake professional qualifications.

All applicants will undergo employment checks, including DBS and reference checks, and will receive safeguarding training.
