The Role: As AI Coach at Makers, you will be front and centre in coaching learners as they embark on apprenticeships and other programmes that put AI at the forefront. You will coach on our leading AI Essentials L3 programme, as well as other AI products and programmes. Your key partner in your work will be the Head of AI Coaching, who is responsible for the quality of our AI programmes.
Success in this space is delivering learning that blends the best of Makers learning approaches with the most cutting edge and exciting insights into contemporary AI for business, driving profound and measurable impact among the learners we support and thrilling and delighting their employers.
As a Person you Are:
- Fascinated and obsessed with the new world of AI and follow the evolution of this space constantly.
- A great coach who loves to help people grow.
- A business improvement fanatic with a business analyst skill set who loves to see how AI can transform work and drive innovation and applies this across their own work.
- Someone who loves to create imaginative, high impact and engaging learning material.
You’ll have the opportunity to work in all of these areas as a part of building your practice as an effective technical educator. You may move around to learn new educational techniques and styles, or spend time gaining in-depth expertise in one area.
In all of these areas, you’ll play each of these roles:
- Coach: Through active listening and questions, you’ll help learners reflect on their learning, their goals, the problems they are facing and the solutions they may try.
- Mentor: You’ll use your own experience as a professional to model skills and behaviour necessary to be an AI-enabled professional.
- Technical expert: You’ll use your technical knowledge to give expert feedback to learners as well as to help guide them towards solving their own problems.
- Emotional support: The learning experience can be intense. Learners are often under a lot of stress and work pressure. You should be there to support them and help them make the best choices they can.
- Education expert: Using recognised educational tools, you’ll help the learners organise their learning, sequence material, rebuild their mental models and ultimately become independent self-learners.
Our training takes place both remotely and onsite. From time to time we may ask you to work from our office in London, in other locations within the UK (with reasonable notice and expenses covered) or remotely as fits the needs of our partners and learners.
Measures of Success:
- The learners you work with are achieving their learning objectives.
- The learners you work with view their experience as demanding but rewarding, viewing our support as highly effective in helping them succeed in their journey.
- The employers you work with understand how education works, what we teach and why, and how their learners are doing.
- Safeguarding concerns are logged and handled promptly.
- Systems for tracking learner progress are kept up to date for the learners you assess or work with.
- You are consistently reflecting on and improving the work that you and your team do, both through improving our materials, your own coaching approach, technical skills, and supporting others to do the same.
What We Value:
- Connect to our mission - Excited about our mission at Makers to change lives, and helping to create an environment where our team can do their best work and thrive.
- Have a growth mindset - You love learning, are open to new opinions and approaches, and enjoy continuously developing yourself and others.
- Prioritise joy - You care about others and are able to empathise, communicate effectively, overcome challenges and help create a supportive and joyful place to work.
- Value trust over fear - You value trust in your working relationships and are able to work in an environment that values transparency, open feedback, clear communication, and challenging the status quo as key foundations.
At Makers, diversity and inclusion are core to our mission. Ensuring our people feel included and valued is critical for us to live the Makers' values: Growth, Trust, and Joy. We are actively working towards fostering a strong culture of belonging for both our students and our people and encourage applications from all backgrounds, abilities, communities, and industries. We see the value behind the new ideas you could bring to help us achieve our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- AI Training: The core of our approach is work related training. Learners of all backgrounds join us to gain modern technical skills and become adaptive self-directed learners who can quickly become productive members of AI use within their organisations. Coaches run workshops, provide 1:1 support, give feedback and overall ensure that learners learn. A portion of our AI training is aimed at Leaders. You are expected to contribute to this coaching.
- Feedback and Guidance: You will work with learners to help them understand how they are doing, and what they can do to improve their skills. Part of this will be reviewing their work on a regular basis and ensuring their profiles are up to date so that they, their employers, and our funders are well-informed.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Extensive experience in Business Change/Transformation. Backgrounds could include roles such as Business Analyst, Scrum Master, Change Manager, Process Improvement Specialist, or similar positions, including proficiency with data visualisation tools, or AI tools or business intelligence platforms.
- Practical experience in designing, implementing, and optimising business processes, covering requirements gathering (e.g., with stakeholder workshops) and process mapping (e.g., with workflow analysis and automation and/or AI tools).
- Solid expertise in AI applications for business, with demonstrable experience in generative AI implementation.
- An understanding of how to implement and manage AI ethics, data privacy compliance, and performance measurement for AI-driven business initiatives.
- Significant experience in Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and/or Power Automate.
- Knowledge of the end-to-end business transformation lifecycle, including process optimisation, business case development, and building and managing performance dashboards using tools like Power BI or Tableau or Gemini or CoPilot.
- Experience with agentic AI systems.
- Strong foundational knowledge of AI strategy and change management practices, including AI governance frameworks, stakeholder engagement, and digital adoption principles.
Our Benefits and Perks:
- We have a minimum holiday policy, rather than a maximum. We encourage our team to take at least 25 days a year (excluding UK Bank Holidays), including a Winter and Spring break when we shut down between late December and January, and mid-year for a week. The whole company takes a break, so you’ll have peace of mind in knowing that nobody is working, not just you.
- We embrace holistic health at Makers, where mental health matters and is just as important as physical health, which is why we offer unlimited fully paid wellness leave from day 1.
- Private Medical Insurance (after passing probation).
- £500 Learning & Development allowance per annum and paid time off dedicated to your training & learning.
- Join daily meditation sessions run for the staff and students.
