At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations. For Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker roles, we are currently able to recruit successfully from the domestic labour market and have a sufficient pool of suitably qualified and appointable candidates. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role at this time. The position is kept under regular review and may change in the future should labour market conditions or service requirements alter.

If you are shortlisted for an interview, you must bring evidence of the following qualifications:

  • GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills for Maths and English.
  • A Full Care Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (NVQ must be accredited by a regulated awarding body).
  • If you hold overseas GCSE equivalent qualifications, you will need an ECCTIS comparability statement for your GCSE equivalent qualifications along with your original certificate.

The cardiothoracic surgical team at Royal Stoke University Hospital provides coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve surgery, aortic surgery, and lung surgery, and receives patients with chest trauma as part of the regional Trauma Centre. The Cardiothoracic Surgery Ward is a 32-bed facility with 8 level 1 beds and 3 pre‑op trolley areas, handling pre‑ and post‑elective and emergency cardiothoracic surgical patients as well as thoracic chest trauma patients. It is a busy, fast‑paced clinical environment with daily turnover of patients.

We are looking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic support worker to join our team and advance their skills as a Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Clinical Support Worker you will work under the supervision of a registered nurse and perform tasks outlined in the UHNM job description for Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker. You will also be responsible for setting up chest drain trolley, catheterisation trolley, and Negative Pressure Wound therapy trolley.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Maths and English current grade 4/C or above or Level 2 Functional Skills equivalent (ECCTIS statement required for overseas qualifications).
  • Hold a full Care Certificate or NVQ Level 3 Award in Health and Social Care (NVQ must be accredited by a regulated awarding body).
  • 12 months minimum care experience on an employed basis. Volunteer or family experience cannot be accepted as evidence.
  • Previous cardiothoracic critical care/ward experience – desirable.
