Summary of the Role

Schedule appointments ensuring local and national waiting time targets are achieved and handle enquiries over the phone or face-to-face in a courteous and professional manner.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule appointments to meet local and national waiting time targets.
  • Communicate with patients by telephone or face-to-face, providing courteous and professional service.
  • Maintain and monitor the waiting list.
  • Respond to enquiries and provide information as required.
  • Occasional weekend working as needed.
QualificationsEssential:
  • Minimum of 2 GCSEs/O Levels (bands A–C) Maths & English or equivalent.
  • IT skills.
Desirable:
  • NVQ Level 3 in admin/clerical/customer service related area.
  • ECDL or other IT qualification.
  • Experience in using CRIS.
ExperienceEssential:
  • Computerised systems with the ability to use the Microsoft package.
  • Handling confidential/sensitive information.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience of dealing with patients/public/customers, face-to-face or by telephone.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience working in the NHS or other complex organisations.
Desirable:
  • Experience of working in an appointment booking environment.
