Now, we’re looking for an ambitious and influential leader to drive membership growth, income generation and regional influence across the South of England. You will play a critical role in shaping how we support, represent and champion manufacturers across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on the regional membership strategy end-to-end, from acquisition and retention to income growth and member engagement while acting as a visible ambassador for Make UK across business, media and policy networks.
- Work closely with senior colleagues to strengthen Make UK’s overall membership proposition and commercial performance.
- Identify ways to grow both membership numbers and income.
- Identify projects to develop and deliver new member benefits and services to support members, based on feedback from member and non-member research.
- Deliver improved performance on member recruitment and retention.
- Identify recruitment options in the region to grow Make UK’s Affiliate Partner membership.
- Manage and develop Make UK’s existing regional third-party corporate and commercial relationships and lead on relevant income-generating activities.
- Develop and implement new activities which both drive membership growth and generate additional income through existing and new member-focused events.
- Identify ways to increase our regional visibility & sponsorship income.
- Work effectively with the Commercial Director and National Partnerships Director to promote and secure member awareness and lead generation for Make UK’s commercial services including Advantages Partners, internal HR & Legal services and Health & Safety training.
Influence, profile & external affairs
- Act as a senior regional ambassador for Make UK, representing the organisation at events, boards and public forums.
- Engage with regional media, influencers, policy and political stakeholders to raise Make UK’s profile and influence.
- Provide members with timely intelligence on local, regional and national business support and policy developments.
- Lead Regional Advisory Boards and member engagement activities.
- Gather and communicate member insight to inform Make UK’s national and international policy work.
- Report on regional policy activity, impact and outcomes.
- Provide line management and development for the Regional Membership Manager and Membership Executive.
- Inspire high performance, collaboration and innovation across the regional team.

- Proven track record of delivering results in a membership, commercial or growth-focused role.
- Senior leadership and people management experience.
- Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills.

- Graduate-level education with evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing, industrial or related services sectors.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, media and policy audiences.
