Locum Consultant Rhinologist

Job Summary

Locum Consultant Rhinologist role at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

This consultant post is to support the ENT team with both surgical and clinical work following the surge of clinical activity and to support the reduction of the backlog following the Covid-19 pandemic. Work will be based at both the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals. The team requires support from an enthusiastic ENT surgeon who can manage all aspects of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery.

Job Responsibilities

• Support the ENT team with both surgical and clinical work following the surge of clinical activity and to support the reduction of the backlog following the Covid-19 pandemic.
• Work will be based at both the Royal Stoke and County Hospitals.
• Assist with surgical caseload, providing expertise in ENT Rhinology and Skull Base surgery.
• Take part in the on‑call rota with a 1:9 weekday frequency and 1:14 weekend frequency, sharing with Mid Cheshire NHS Trust.

Person Specification

Essential

• Full GMC Registration.
• Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry via CCT within 6 months of interview or CESR.
• Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining (UK) CCT in ENT.
• Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within specialty.
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.

Desirable

• Other higher degree (PhD, Masters, BSc).
• Postgraduate qualifications in medical education.
• Experience of undergraduate teaching and supervision.
• Experience of clinical supervision and mentorship.
