Are you looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well-motivated staff nurse to join our Home Therapies team at the University Hospital of North Midlands. The post holder will work alongside a team of clinical Nurse Specialists in the training and management of both Home haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients and will be working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
The applicant will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a caring and compassionate attitude. Previous experience is desirable but not essential as continuing education, support and training to develop and achieve competencies relevant to the role will be provided. A full driving license will be required.
Main duties of the job:
- Responsible for the management of a caseload of Home Therapy (Peritoneal dialysis and Home haemodialysis) patients.
- Responsible for the education and provision of specialist training to Home Therapy patients and/or their support person both in the hospital and community setting.
- Management of the clinical area including assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards.
- Work in close partnership with Consultants, Nurse Specialists and external agencies to ensure that all patients receive a high-quality service.
- Responsible for the multidisciplinary co-ordination of Home Therapy patients by being an effective practitioner and professional role model, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Participate in innovation and evidence-based nursing practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team in close liaison with the Sister / Charge Nurse.
- Act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower other staff to develop both personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.
Person Specification:
- Essential: Hold a full driving licence and have own vehicle.
- Desirable: Previous Renal experience; Minimum of 12 months as a qualified nurse.
Education and qualifications:
- NMC qualification.
- Desirable: Health assessment qualification; Nurse Prescribing.
