This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a highly regarded team, working in collaboration with existing Consultants and within a wider multi‑professional team. You will work alongside Consultants, Specialist Registrars, Specialty doctors and Clinical Nurse Specialists, rotating between RSUH and County Hospital. The role involves sharing duties with other middle‑grade doctors, and participating in audit, teaching, training and research. A job plan will be discussed and reviewed with the successful candidate.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide clinical services within the Oncology and Haematology departments at Royal Stoke University Hospital and the County Hospital site.
- Participate in undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training.
- Lead and contribute to clinical audit, teaching, training and research initiatives.
- Collaborate with other middle‑grade doctors and multidisciplinary team members.

Person Specification
Essential
- Full registration with the GMC.
- Possession of MRCP and FRCR, or equivalent qualification in medical oncology.
- Entry on Specialist Register or UK training scheme and within 6 months of award of CCT at interview.
- Obtained CESR already or application in progress through the Portfolio Pathway for Specialist Registration.
- Experience of conducting clinical audit and using evidence‑based practice.
- Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical problems and evidence of training in research methodology.
- Demonstrated management and administrative skills: prioritisation, strategic planning, sound judgement, and motivation of multidisciplinary teams.
- Energy, enthusiasm, a caring attitude to patients, and effective communication with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs and nurses.
- Commitment to Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development.
- Appropriate immigration status and ability to travel within 10 miles or 30 minutes of base.
Desirable
- MD or PhD.
- Publications in relevant peer‑reviewed journals within the last five years.
- Evidence of undertaking original research.
