The Senior Clinical Support Worker in Gynaecology works independently and supports the nursing and medical team. This senior role includes clinical, clerical, and administrative duties within the Gynaecology department at Royal Stoke.
Interview Requirements
- GCSE Maths & English at grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills, or an overseas equivalent with an ECCTIS comparability statement.
- Full Care Certificate or NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (NVQ must be from a regulated awarding body).
- Failure to present these qualifications at interview will result in the interview not proceeding.
Main Duties
- Organise clerical duties: reception, paper and electronic record maintenance, booking appointments, filing, supply ordering, and specimen management.
- Support patient care: prepare environments for outpatient examinations, chaperone and assist clinicians, communicate information to senior staff, and provide good customer care.
- Maintain a clean, safe, hazard‐free environment.
- Work in accordance with Trust policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Assist with invasive procedures under supervision when trained and assessed competent.
Job Responsibilities
The Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker assists the registered nurse and multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, person‐centred care. Responsibilities include routine and specific tasks delegated under policies and guidelines. Flexibility is required, with variable shifts over 7 days per week on a week‐by‐week basis within agreed limits.
Person Specification – Essential
- 2 years' NHS experience.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including Maths and English.
- Hold a Care Certificate.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

- Ability to cover a variety of shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
- Evidence of professional development activity.
- Venepuncture, taking clinical observations, pregnancy testing, urine strip analysis.
