The Social Media Officer is responsible for managing and growing the charity’s online presence across social media platforms. This role is ideal for someone creative, organised, and passionate about storytelling and community engagement.

What are we looking for?

Experience:

  • Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn.
  • Experience creating or editing visual content (photos/videos).
  • Event coverage and social media promotion.
  • Comfortable responding to messages, comments, and interacting online.
  • Basic understanding of branding and social media best practices.

What will you be doing?

  • Manage accounts: Maintain Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp community accounts; ensure accounts are active, settings are correct, and posts follow charity guidelines.
  • Engage followers: Respond to messages and comments promptly; encourage volunteers to post updates and share content after events.
  • Content creation & promotion: Post updates at least once a week, highlighting events, volunteering opportunities, and fundraising initiatives; work with volunteer photographers or societies to collect high-quality photos and videos; upload content to the OneDrive Media folder, website, and other social media channels.
  • Support chapter volunteers: Use WhatsApp to create an engaging volunteer community; thank volunteers after events and encourage ongoing participation.
  • Plan & report: Complete the Chapter’s Social Media Development Plan; liaise with the Website Officer and Media Manager to ensure consistency with broader charity branding.
