Major Recruitment is currently seeking Nuclear Mechanical Engineers at all levels to join our prestigious client on numerous long‑term projects, expected to last over 14 years, with contracts renewed every 12 months. Our client, a leading supplier to the UK’s nuclear industry, is offering exceptional opportunities across the entire nuclear life cycle.

Hybrid Work Model: 3 days working in the office and 2 days working from home (choose your own hours between 37 - 40 per week). Location: Warrington or Cumbria based office.

  • Senior Mechanical Engineer – £59.32ph
  • Mechanical Engineer – £53.93ph
  • Senior Mechanical Designer / Technician – £48.52ph
  • Mechanical Designer / Technician – £41.60ph

Main responsibilities:

  • Foster Effective Collaboration: Promote seamless cooperation across Engineering and various functional teams.
  • Customer Management Support: Facilitate communication and build relationships with clients.
  • Application of Standards: Ensure procedures, codes, and standards are correctly identified and applied.
  • Project Safety: Contribute to the Project Safety Assessment process.
  • Risk Management: Communicate and manage task and project risks effectively.
  • Technical Documentation: Produce, review, and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, and reports.
  • Change Assessment: Evaluate implications of changes and queries.
  • Engineering Configuration: Maintain design intent and integrity throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Problem Solving: Develop proposals for investigations and solutions.
  • Project Support: Assist the Project Manager in planning and delivering tasks.
  • Engineering Decisions: Make decisions within your designated sphere of responsibility.
  • Technical Leadership: Act as Technical Authority or Engineering Lead when authorized.
  • Safety and Ethical Standards: Ensure high standards for health and safety.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated in relevant technical areas.
  • Learning from Experience: Contribute to learning from experience requirements.
  • Business Development Support: Support business development opportunities.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Exercise care for health and safety as defined by legislation.

Qualifications:

  • BEng/MEng: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working on nuclear projects.
  • Chartered status – preferred but not essential.
  • UK Driving License: A valid UK driving licence is necessary.
  • British Passport: You must possess a British passport.
  • Right to Work: You must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in tackling a wide range of tasks.
  • Strong communication skills and capability to interface effectively.
  • Ownership and delivery with a commitment to high performance.
  • Strong knowledge of CAD tools and General Engineering Drawing Practice.
  • Degree or qualification in relevant engineering discipline with substantial experience.
