£48,000 per annum | Monday - Friday Night Shift (10:00pm - 6:00am)

Our client is an award-winning chilled food manufacturer based in Milton Keynes, producing a range of innovative, plant-based food products supplied to major UK retailers and food service customers. Operating from a modern, purpose-built BRC Grade A manufacturing facility, the business has ambitious growth plans and a collaborative, fast-paced culture where every employee has the opportunity to make a real impact.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the night shift engineering team, supporting a highly automated food production environment where engineering reliability is critical to maintaining production performance. You will work closely with the Engineering Supervisor and wider engineering team, providing both preventative and reactive maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.

The Role:

This is a permanent, factory-based maintenance engineering position with a strong emphasis on electrical and mechanical fault finding, preventative maintenance and breakdown response across the production facility. You will be responsible for ensuring production equipment is maintained to the highest possible standard, helping to maximise uptime and support continuous manufacturing operations. The role combines planned maintenance, reactive repairs and continuous improvement activities across a modern chilled food manufacturing environment.

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday Night Shift 10:00pm - 6:00am

Salary & Benefits: £48,000 per annum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns across production equipment
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise equipment reliability
  • Diagnose faults quickly using structured troubleshooting techniques
  • Repair and maintain production machinery and associated factory assets
  • Support production by minimising downtime and ensuring equipment availability
  • Liaise closely with the Engineering Supervisor and Engineering Manager on maintenance priorities
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete all relevant documentation
  • Promote high standards of housekeeping, safety and engineering best practice
  • Engage with production and site teams to communicate equipment issues effectively
  • Provide engineering support during periods of increased production where required
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance and reliability
  • Cover engineering colleagues where required and support wider engineering activities
  • Carry out additional maintenance duties as required by the business

About You:

This role would suit a proactive engineer who enjoys working independently while remaining a strong team player within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within food manufacturing, FMCG or a similar production environment
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
  • Experience carrying out both reactive breakdown maintenance and preventative maintenance
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments
  • A proactive approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement
  • The ability to work independently on a permanent night shift
  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
  • A positive, reliable and self-motivated attitude
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment

Qualifications:

One or more of the following (or equivalent):

  • Electrical or Mechanical Apprenticeship
  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Engineering
  • ONC / HNC in Engineering
  • Multi-Skilled Engineering qualification
  • Relevant electrical qualifications (17th or 18th Edition desirable)
