The predicted salary is between 42000 - 84000 £ per year.
Provide day-to-day leadership of the Shipping department by advising and directing the team to ensure a prompt and efficient shipping service for the Company in compliance with all transportation regulations.
Financial Volume: Approx. £1m transport spend PA
Other Shipping: ~1,500 order lines PCM
Lead the implementation of best practice logistics vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to improve operational performance.
- Ensure regulatory compliance for the import and export of goods.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimization opportunities.
- Implement best practice logistics policies and procedures for the HPL & TSS sites to improve operational and financial performance.
- Address escalations to help resolve Shipping department issues.
- Ensure complaints are processed promptly.
- Participate in the completion of shipping documentation and order bookings.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for shipping from HPL and TSS sites.
- Support Procurement in carrier selection and monitor service against performance criteria.
- Assist in process mapping and training for ERP enhancements within the Shipping department.
- Maintain responsibility for the health & safety of the shipping department.
People Management
- Set departmental objectives/KPIs and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Ensure the Shipping team stays up to date with legal and regulatory training requirements.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
Demonstrated expertise in shipping hazardous chemicals. Strong time management skills. Experience in transformational change management. Dangerous Goods trained in Air (IATA ICAO), Sea (IMDG), and Road (ADR). Proficiency in computer applications and MS Office. Initiative-taking, flexible, and capable of meeting strict deadlines.
